The MNU Athletic Department is pleased to announce the hiring Head Volleyball Coach Rick Banis. Prior to MNU, he was an assistant coach at Bishop Kelley High School, Lewis University (IL), College of St. Mary (NE), and Newman University (KS). Clarissa Seager joins MNU as the Head Cheerleading Coach after cheering for the Pioneers and graduating in 2006. The Olathe native will also continue to coach cheerleading at Olathe South High School, where she cheered for three years. Coach Seager has a degree in Physical Education and Health from MNU.

In the first poll of the season, the MidAmerica Pioneer football team has been ranked 12th in the country. After a season in which the Pioneers won 9 games and made the playoffs, MNU is looking to improve. The HAAC was well-represented in the national poll, with Missouri Valley ranked 3rd, and Lindenwood 9th.

Kevin Steele, Director of Athletics at California Baptist University, will become MidAmerica Nazarene University's seventh Director of Athletics August 1. Jason Drummond, Vice President for University Advancement, announced the hiring Monday. Steele will succeed Ron Hill, who retires June 30 after serving in that role for 12 years.

The MidAmerica Nazarene University baseball program is excited to announce the signing of Ben Alison, a righthanded pitcher/infielder from Ankeny High School in Ankeny, Iowa, for the fall of 2008. Alison helped lead Ankeny High to a quarterfinal finish in baseball last summer as a junior and to the state championship game last fall in football.

A .392 batting average with 12 doubles, 3 triples, 3 home runs, 28 RBI, and 11 steals earned Margo Lear All-HAAC and All-Region V honors this season. The freshman shortstop from Muscatine, IA was 3rd in the conference in hitting, 6th in slugging percentage, 9th in runs per game, 7th in hits per game, 5th in doubles, and 2nd in triples.
