Pioneers fall to Evangel

Top seeded Evangel (Mo.) University hit their offensive stride against MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) University today in the second day of the Region V Softball Tournament.  The Crusaders notched 16 hits on their way to a 12-4 victory over the Pioneers.  Kimberly Williams got the win on the mound.  The sophomore allowed 11 hits and three walks while fanning five.  Shortstop Kim Waltz chipped in four hits, three runs and two RBIs.  Kaylee Nelson had three hits, two runs and two RBIs.

Whitney Schmidt took the loss for MidAmerica.  Schmidt threw three innings, gave up seven hits, four earned runs, two walks and struck out one before being relieved by Lindsey Oliver in the fourth.  Oliver surrendered nine hits and one walk while fanning three.  Sophomore Kristen Hensen was perfect at the plate, going three-for-three with two runs scored.
